  • The Field announces new album ‘Infinite Moment’

  • Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois

One of the most interesting and unique musical collaborations we’ve ever come across. Canadian artists Aaron Funk – aka Venetian Snares – and Daniel Lanois, have been busy collaborating over the past year, and the results are truly stunning.

The two recently performed at the Texas festival Day For Night to great effect; Daniel focusing on his gorgeous ambient soundscapes via his processed (lap) steel guitar, whilst Venetian Snares contrasts with crystal clear modular electronics.

The two are finishing up an album and the snippets we’ve heard are incredible.
The diary is now open for festivals and special event bookings.

“After spending the bulk of his career as a key member of the 50Weapons clan, Welsh techno producer Benjamin Damage has now found a new home on the vaunted R&S label. Although his new ‘Montreal’ EP won’t arrive until October 27, we debuted the record’s melodic, rave-ready title track on Red Bull Radio’s First Floor, our weekly look at what’s new in electronic music.” – RBMA

Benjamin Damage is releasing an EP on R&S Records.

The Welsh artist was a central figure to Modeselektor’s 50Weapons label, which released the bulk of his output since 2010. His last record, Obsidian, was the final LP to come out on the imprint before it shut down back in late 2015.

He’s now found a new home at R&S, which will release an EP called Montreal in October. Damage describes being on the Belgian label as “a dream” and cites it as an important artistic influence from a young age. The three-tracker will be available in vinyl and digital formats.

  • Actress releases AZD on Ninja Tune

    AZD

Actress, aka Darren Cunningham, returns with a new album, now on Ninja Tune and a new music system called AZD (pronounced “Azid”), a chrome aspect journey into a parallel world. The album in few days has reached #3 in UK Electronic iTunes Album Chart and #5 in the US one. The album reviews, until now, leave no doubts: AZD is a masterpiece.

“Actress’ sixth LP reaches deep into both Cunningham’s clubbiest and most avant-garde impulses, exploring language and Afrofuturism while maintaining a musicality that holds the listener close”.  (Pitchfork)

It feels unfussy and workmanlike. Which isn’t to do it down: now that he’s back to just getting on with it, Cunningham can once again produce mirage-like moments of beauty like nobody else”. (Resident Advisor

“AZD is an album you have to digest in full rather than dipping in and out. If you put in the effort this is one of the most rewarding albums of the year so far” (Drowned in the Sound

  • Clark’s Death Peak out now on Warp Records

    Clark_Death Peak

‘I’ve had the title Death Peak since August 2016. It felt so right, I would repeat it to myself like a mantra. Death Peak Death Peak Death Peak. It starts gently, all meadows and butterflies and ends with you on top of this gnarly fearsome mountain peak, surveying a shattered landscape below’

Clark returns today, on the 7th of April, with Death Peak; his eighth studio album on Warp Records. The album deftly weaves together the various threads of his extensive work, intertwining euphoric melodies and visceral rhythms of warehouse rave with newer vocal and choral elements. Death Peak exposes the tension in Clark’s musical vocabulary ’I love finding the fulcrum between opposites – I want my tracks to have sharp teeth, but you want to stroke them too. They sound ancient, but beamed in from the future, soft, corrosive’.

  • New mix from Objekt

    Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 13.14.08

Here at Dekmantel we are a big fan of Berlin based Brit Objekt. Evidence: you will see him play our festival in Amsterdam as well as Lente Kabinet, and then Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia. And right now, the man known for his unrivalled technical nous is in a fine run of form. His recent, self-released EP is another testament to his ability to skew house, techno and breaks into his own imaginative forms. Following on from releases on Hessle Audio, Bleep and an album on PAN, it is another boon in his fine discography.

And he is just as impressive across a 90 plus minute selection for us: it finds him serving up a cavernous world of intricate and hi fidelity sounds that are abstract and unusual. Moving through sparse minimal soundscapes into pummelling but atmospheric drum tracks and on to jungle, dub and experimental worldly rhythms, it is a wildly compelling and singular selection filled with unusual sounds that often leaving you wondering WTF?!

  • Actress announces new album ‘AZD’

    81666
Actress, Darren Jordan Cunningham, returns with a new album, now on Ninja Tune and a new music system called “AZD” (pronounced “Azid”), a chrome aspect journey into a parallel world. Actress, an artist who has always preferred to make music than to talk about it, in “AZD” has achieved another remarkable landmark, one which is as resistant to interpretation as it is demanding of it.

As if the record itself isn’t enough, Cunningham is currently preparing a new live show, to be debuted at as part of Convergence at Village Underground on March 24th. Presented as AZD, Cunningham says it “will be a test frame for linking circuits using various forms of language — Midi globalised language, Lyrical language, Tikal Graffiti code and various other Synthesiser language — to create one intelligent musical instrument called AZD, if successful it will produce the first translucent, non-soluble communication sound pill synergised through impressionistic interpretations of technological equipment. This is the music vitamin of the Metropolis.”

The simplest you could say about “AZD” is that it’s art – the unique creation of a unique mind. There will be few more distinctive, brilliant or visionary suites of music released in 2017. Call him what you will, this is the year that Darren ‘Daz’ Cunningham – aka Actress, aka AZD – asserts more clearly than ever before his complete independence. Do not miss the chance to experience the unknown this year, follow Actress in his shows this year.

  • Nathan Fake releases podcast for Resident Advisor

    ra562-nathan-fake-cover

Nathan Fake’s latest podcast for Resident Advisor has been described by the UK artist as a “mixtape recorded for someone.” We can only assume that someone is a fan of classic house and tracks with an IDM twist. A mix around the midsection sums it up: Aphex Twin into Omar-S.

  • Objekt announces new 12″

    objekt-4

Objekt is back with his first release since 2014.

Objekt #4 is the latest EP in the Berlin-based producer’s self-titled white label series, which began with Objekt #1 in 2011. It arrives a little over three years since the series’ last instalment. It’s been almost as long since we last heard from Objekt, real name TJ Hertz, altogether—his debut LP, Flatland, was released in late 2014. Objekt #4 comprises two tracks, and followers of Pearson Sound and Ben UFO might recognise the A-side, “Needle & Thread”—both DJs have played it in recent sets.

Due out on March 27th, Objekt #4 is dedicated to a fictitious Berlin venue called Basement Q. “There really was no place quite like it,” Hertz says. “Even in the later years when Joe [Call Super] and I would go, the sense of vitality was palpable. You had all these regulars who must all have been pushing 50 years old but still had more energy and passion than any 25 year olds we knew at the time.”

    Tracklist
    A Needle & Thread
    B Theme From Q

Objekt will release Objekt #4 on March 27th, 2017.

  • Tennyson and Mr. Carmack collaborate on new singles

Tennyson + Mr. Carmack Recording Session at at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica

Teenage brother-sister duo Tennyson and Los Angeles-based producer Mr. Carmack are teaming up to release three new singles consecutively this week. Their first joint single, called “Tuesday,” is Red Bull Sound Select’s first release of 2017 and premiered on THUMP. The instrumental track infuses its R&B foundation with electronic depth and jazz-inspired melodies to create a one-of-a-kind soundscape.

In many ways, Tennyson and Mr. Carmack come from two completely different worlds. Tennyson specializes in contemplative instrumental music, embodying experimentation and pop sensibilities akin to Aphex Twin. Conversely, Mr. Carmack brings an air of raucous intensity that hinges between dance music and hip-hop to his productions, eschewing contemplation for sheer id. But despite their wildly different approaches, Tennyson and Mr. Carmack bring out the best in each other, tempering their most dramatic impulses while highlighting the boundless creativity that makes both artists great.

  • Tennyson join LittleBig

    MJG_20160817_RBSS_Tennyson_small (1)

LittleBig is delighted to welcome to the agency brother-sister duo Tennyson. Luke and Tess have been playing music together since, basically, forever. Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, with a drummer for a father, there wasn’t much else to do. They’re jazz-trained and have pop influences, but are obsessed with Aphex Twin, James Blake and Jon Hopkins.

The signing of Tennyson to LittleBig represents another exciting step for us; working with a very young, fresh, super-talented live act that could go anywhere.

We’re so excited to be working on this brilliant new project, and we’re sure you will get hooked on their infectious and refreshing style, as we have.

Tennyson will be rep’d by Ned Beckett, Debbie Clare and Chris Duncan.

Following Tennyson’s recent support slots for M83, we are currently planning their debut EU dates for mid-May to early-June.

    Contact Debbie for more info.

  • ADULT. debut on Mute Records with new LP

ADULT. (Detroit’s Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller) have announced details of a new collaborative album, Detroit House Guests – their first for Mute – out on double vinyl and CD on 17 March 2017.

Listen to They’re Just Words, the first track to be taken from the album, featuring Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J McCarthy here and watch the album trailer here.

Detroit House Guests is a collaborative project, conceived by ADULT. in the early 2000s. The concept became a reality in 2014 after receiving a John S. and James L.Knight Foundation grant.

Based on the visual artist residency model, each musician came to ADULT.’s studio for a three week period with the parameter that they all live, work and collaborate together. The result – a total anthropological sound experiment and a full length album.

The album features collaborations with a whole host of musicians and artists – Douglas J McCarthy from Nitzer Ebb, Michael Gira from Swans, Shannon Funchess from Light Asylum, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe aka Lichens, Austrian thereminist Dorit Chrysler and multidisciplinary artist Lun*na Menoh.

ADULT. are the Detroit duo Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller. They played their first live show together in Germany in 1997 under the name Artificial Material. In early ’98 they released their first 12″ under the moniker Plasma Co. Later that year, they released their first 12″ under the name ADULT. Currently, they have released six albums and 19 EPs or singles on Ghostly International, Thrill Jockey and Clone Records, as well as on their own label Ersatz Audio, (which currently has over 40 releases since it was founded in ’95). They have remixed over 20 acts as well, including Tuxedomoon, John Foxx, Death in Vegas and Pet Shop Boys (for Moog Music).

Kuperus and Miller also make sculpture, paintings, films, photographs, performances, videos and installations. They strive to intersect the lines between art and audio and have exhibited their work at institutions worldwide.
