Múm : Sing Along
Múm performs live score to silent film Menschen am Sonntag
Founding members of múm, Örvar Smárason and Gunnar Tynes will improvise electronic music to accompany the silent film Menschen am Sonntag from the year 1930.
Menschen am Sonntag is an often overlooked gem from 1930, a directorial debut for brothers Curt and Robert Siodmak and written by none other than Billy Wilder. Not only is the film one of the last of Germany’s silent era cinema, but it follows a weekend in the life of a group of Berliners and is a rare glimpse into the lives of young and carefree people in a city that would soon be submerged in a dark shadow.
Múm is known for its exploratory and exuberant approach to music which can yield eclectic results. Witness to this bear their contrasting projects which range from releasing a single with Kylie Minouge to being commissioned to write a piece for the MDR Sinfonieorchester in Leipzig. múm’s latest album Smilewound was nominated for the Nordic Music Prize.

The sixth album of Múm is now released on Morr Music.
Glorious glitch & experimental pop surrounded by twisted synths and dynamic instrumentation. The beautiful arrangement of the vocals and its lyrics make the album a candy paradise for the ears.

Smilewound press quotes ::
“Smilewound finds the woolly jumpered collective casting through another set of impressionistic glitch-pop and clockwork exotica.!
Uncut U.K.
“Toothwheels” is masterful, all languid viola and brooding beats that could easily take a serious R&B vocal.”
Loud & Quiet U.K.
“Even when things begin to get hot and bothered the mood is curbed by an unhurried gentleness”
theartsdesk.com U.K
“Múm’s combination of live instrumentation, ethereal harmonies and digital fixings has birthed another cracker”
The Skinny U.K
“Seen in the wider context of their career as a whole, the album may be viewed as an oddity, but a sparse approach works wonders; it’ll be interesting to see where they go from here”
The 405 U.K
” With Smilewound MÚM created an album that is perfect pop music. Stripped down, dreamy and in fancy clothes.”
