  R&S, Avian, Electronic Explorations, Juno+, Our Circula Sound and Perc Trax have all provided a home for the trademark sounds created by Tom Russell under his various aliases. • Truss / MPIA3 – Electronic Explorations Mix

  

  Straight off the back of his inaugural EP for R&S, Tom Russell provides Rob Booth an exclusive mix for his prolific ‘Electronic Explorations’ mix series. The mix is the second in the ‘Warehouse Series’, which as the name suggests, focuses on the fracturing reflections of dance music in industrial environments. Tom has captured the vibe with a rough and ready mix of heavyweight sounds, have a listen HERE.

  R&S welcome new signing MPIA3 to the label with a doublepack of uncompromising techno. MPIA3 is a production alias of Truss (Perc Trax) who has just the two EP’s preceding this on Shifted’s Avian label.  ‘Your Orders’ see him continue down the path of raw, industrial, seriously funky, acid techno. His signature overdriven kicks recall classic Robert Armani and his sound harks back to the days of Mike Dearbourn and DJax Up Beats, and the classic UK techno of Ben Sims and James Ruskin but the tracks on ‘Your Orders’ could have only been made in 2012.

  This is heavyweight music built for proper soundsystems and dark rooms. The six tracks on the EP straddle different tempos with some slick drum programming, but are tied together with some razor sharp synths and a healthy dose of acid.
