The Field – available for rare solo live shows in 2013

As of now, Axel Willner (aka The Field) is busy at work in his Berlin studio, and is thus taking a break from touring with the band. During this time, he has expressed an interest to perform his solo, ambient live show for select events. Using an array of analogue electronics, its a performance best suited to concert halls and seated venues, and a rare chance to intimately experience his experiments in the hypnotic arts.

Where possible, the show will be accompanied by a visual set, created by photographer and artist Sonia Alvarez. A long term collaborator with Axel (you will find her images in all his album sleeves), the pair have been exploring and developing the relationship between their work to greater depths. The result is a completely immersive sensory experience, unburdened by stylistic boundaries or functional responsibility, intuition becomes the only guide. The artist is free to take any direction, and you are free to join the journey.

Axel has done this performance only a few times. The first was for Kompakt’s pop-ambient event at London’s Southbank Centre in 2011, receiving unanimous praise, followed by a glowing reception at Bylarm Festival in Norway earlier this year, and September saw a sold-out Hackney Empire show in London alongside Murcof. The show will remain equally rare in 2013, so if you have a suitable event or venue for such a performance as this, put it on your ‘to do’ list for 2013 now!
