For more than a decade Railton has been recognised as one of the London music scene’s central actors both as a performer and curator, founding the series Kammer Klang in 2008 and the London Contemporary Music Festival in 2013.
A key figure in contemporary music she regularly performs works by composers such as Alvin Lucier, Morton Feldman and Iannis Xenakis.
More recently Railton has engaged with electronic forms, releasing her debut Paradise 94 on Modern Love with performances and commissions at CTM, Norbergfestival, Dark Mofo, Somerset House and INA GRM, Paris.
Recent projects have included works with inventor and electronic music pioneer Peter Zinovieff (Atonal Festival, ZKM) composer Kali Malone and Beatrice Dillon. As a curator and producer her current focus is on the work of Maryanne Amacher, presenting devotional events in both Geneva and the ICA, London in 2019
“With an already impressive footprint across electro-acoustic composition, be it as a curator, performer, or collaborator, Paradise 94 comes as Lucy Railton’s debut solo LP, and it’s a stunner.”
