Jon Hopkins shares new video, Feel First Life
Taken from his critically acclaimed new album, Singularity, Jon Hopkins is very happy to share the video for ‘Feel First Life’. Featuring a meditative piano solo that morphs into a 15-part choir, ‘Feel First Life’ marks the mid-point and distinct change in pace of the album from the energetic into the transcendent. The video was directed by frequent collaborator Elliot Dear.
On the heels of a sold out coast-to-coast North American tour, Hopkins continues to dominate the live circuit with tour dates across the UK and Europe including 2 sold out dates at London’s Brixton Academy plus a very special show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire for War Child UK as part of their Learn to Live Campaign. A full list of dates can found below.

Jon Hopkins – “Singularity” from the album of the same name, out now on Domino Record Co.
Taken from his critically acclaimed new album, Singularity, Jon Hopkins is very proud to share the video for the title track. Directed by Academy Films’ Seb Edwards, ‘Singularity’ is a visual pinnacle of the album’s arc and a continuation and deepening of all the themes that pervade Jon Hopkins’ work.
Jon Hopkins says of the video: “This is the single most epic video I’ve ever had made. Seb has been a friend and collaborator for nearly 15 years now, but this is the first opportunity we’ve had to work with total freedom on a video for my own music. The power of what he has done left me speechless the first time I saw it. He translated the themes of destruction and defiance that I fed into the music into a powerful, violent ballet between male and female and I totally love it.”
Director Seb Edwards adds: “I’ve always loved Jon’s work and we’ve been wanting to collaborate for a while. ‘Singularity’ is such an incredible track, its merciless intensity somehow reflects our troubled times. I wanted to capture the feeling of defiance that rises from the initial brutality. The track is ultimately about acceptance and finding peace in nature. I hope I did it justice.”
In what has been an incredibly successful 2018 so far, Hopkins is currently on a sold out tour in North America and will be returning to Europe and UK for a slew of sold out dates including two at London’s Brixton Academy in November. A full list of shows including festival appearances can found below.

Jon Hopkins announces new album + European tour
Domino is very proud to mark the return of Jon Hopkins and his new album, Singularity, his first since 2013’s breakthrough, Immunity. Singularity is due for release on 4th May 2018. Along with news of Singularity, Hopkins has shared ‘Emerald Rush’ the first track to be released from the album.
Listen to ‘Emerald Rush’ on streaming services HERE.
In addition to news of Singularity, Hopkins has announced a run of live dates across the UK & Europe with US dates to be announced shortly. He will also be making a number of festival appearances in 2018. A full list of dates can found below.
Singularity begins and ends on the same note: a universe beginning, expanding, and contracting towards the same infinitesimal point. Where Immunity – his hypnotic breakthrough LP – charted the dark alternative reality of an epic night out, Singularity explores the dissonance between dystopian urbanity and the green forest. It is a journey that returns to where it began – from the opening note of foreboding to the final sound of acceptance.
Shaped by his experiences with meditation and trance states, the album flows seamlessly from rugged techno to transcendent choral music, from solo acoustic piano to psychedelic ambient. Its epic musical palette is visceral and emotionally honest: with a destructive opener full of industrial electronics and sonic claustrophobia and a redemptive, pure end on solo piano.
Exploring the connectivity of the mind, sonics and the natural world, Singularity reflects the different psychological states Hopkins experienced while writing and recording. It is a transformative trip of defiance from his initial sense of frustration at the state of the contemporary world to the ultimate conclusion that a true sense of peace and belonging can only come from nature.
Singularity is intended to be listened to in one sitting, as a complete body of work.

Jon Hopkins announces Asleep Versions EP
Following a sold out, euphoric performance at The Royal Festival Hall, Jon Hopkins announces the release of a 4 track EP, entitled Asleep Versions, on 10th November 2014.
Asleep Versions was recorded at Sundlaugin Studios, near Reykjavik, in February of this year. Intended to be heard as one single 25 minute piece, it is composed of four decelerated, dreamlike re-imaginings of tracks from the Mercury-nominated Immunity.
Representing the quieter, more meditative side of the album, these new explorations take its hypnotic, transcendent qualities to a far deeper level. At times almost painfully beautiful, the EP contains a new, semi-acoustic re-interpretation of album track Form By Firelight, featuring additional vocals from the Braids and Blue Hawaii lead vocalist, Raphaelle Standell.
Asleep Versions will be available on 12″ (RUG622T), CD (RUG622CD) & Digital (RUG622D).
Jon Hopkins will be curating a night at The Warehouse Project in Manchester on 12th December alongside Jamie XX, and will be performing his biggest show to date at London’s Brixton Academy on 24th April 2015.

Jon Hopkins is to release Immunity, his fourth solo album, on June 3rd.
A powerful, multi-faceted beast, packed with the most aggressively dancefloor-focussed music Hopkins has ever made, Immunity is about achieving euphoric states through music. Inspired by the arc of an epic night out, the album peaks with Collider, a huge, apocalyptic, techno monster and dissolves with the quiet, heartbreakingly beautiful closer, Immunity, a track featuring vocals from King Creosote which could sit comfortably alongside the gems of their Mercury-nominated collaboration, Diamond Mine.
Jon Hopkins will be performing a headline album launch show at London’s Village Underground on 12th June. You can purchase tickets HERE.
Jon Hopkins is also an expert producer, Ivor Novello-nominated composer of film scores, long-term collaborator of Brian Eno and Coldplay, and remixer of artists as diverse as David Lynch, Four Tet, Wild Beasts, Nosaj Thing, and Purity Ring. Immunity is Jon’s first album on Domino, following the release of Insides on Domino imprint Double Six in 2009.
Jon Hopkins – film scores and awaited 4th Studio album
As announced on his Facebook, Jon Hopkins is now in the finishing stages of his next album. I’ve been excited about this all year, the new tracks I’ve heard are utterly mind-blowing. Here’s what he said:
“This has mainly been a studio year.. The reason there has been no new solo album released yet is that I’ve done two new film scores, including the next Kevin Macdonald film which is looking amazing. Details of these are on my IMDB page underneath. The soundtrack albums of both will be released next spring / summer. The solo album is nearly done and will be out before them unless something weird happens in the next few weeks when I try to finish it off. Happy new year x”

Jon had an interesting 2011/12 to say the least, having a surprise smash hit with his ‘Diamond Mine’ album alongside Scottish folk artist King Creosote, whose subtle balance of silken electronics and emotive songwriting received universal adoration and a coveted Mercury Prize nomination. His soundtrack for Gareth Edwards debut movie ‘Monsters’ was similarly loved, and lead to the further score commissions mentioned above.
Along with producing an album with Brian Eno for Warp Records, high profile tours supporting the likes of Royksopp and Coldplay, the London based composer has found himself not far off ‘household name’ status.
The release and tour schedule are yet to be announced, but we are already pencilling dates for Spring / Summer festivals. If you really want him at your 2013 event, I suggest getting in touch before things go hectic!
In the meantime, go enjoy the music on his Soundcloud.
