  • 65daysofstatic announce epic European album tour

A 65 album tour wouldn’t be a real 65 album tour without it being ridiculously long, with few days off, spanning more European cities than you knew existed, with psychosis and incessant confusion packed as standard.

If 65 isn’t coming to a town near you on this tour, you surely must be living down a black hole that even they cannot get to.

For links to all tickets, head to the 65daysofstatic website.

  • 65daysofstatic announce UK tour and September album release

65daysofstatic UK Tour September 2013 from 65daysofstatic on Vimeo.

Sometimes they come back … and for some, they do it in style. 65daysofstatic has been on an extended hiatus for something like 3 years, with the occasional jaunt to the furthermost corners of Asia, a burrow and sleepless tumble through Russia or popping up as surprise wedidn’tknowyouwerecoming additions to European festivals, but now they’re back, on their own terms, and finally finally finally there is an album coming.

    In the band’s own words:

Remember us?We used to live amongst the humans, but that went bad. So we got out for a while.Way out, way down.

Living in the starblack, half-awake time. Too much blurring.

Things went bad there too, bad dreams and slow moments. The undertow. Down in the afterlife, down around forever.

    Bad cheques and trouble money.

    Blackspots in dreamland…

    So we’re coming back.

  • 65daysofstatic re-release back catalogue and announce first ever Australian tour

65daysofstatic have announced their first ever visit to Australia, performing headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth as well as this year’s Peat’s Ridge Festival.

The tour follows the recent announcement of the release of their back catalogue in Australia, beginning with their latest ‘We Were Exploding Anyway / Heavy Sky’ featuring Robert Smith (The Cure), followed by deluxe editions of their first 3 albums.

Formed in 2001 in Sheffield, 65daysofstatic quickly established themselves as one of the most influential post-rock exponents in the UK. Whilst their early EPs showed a band dabbling in electronica and dance-rock, the band was equally at home playing epic instrumentals and math-rock. The success of their 2004 debut LP The Fall Of Math and the follow up One Time For All Time earned the band a personal invitation to support The Cure on their 2007/08 arena tour around the world. Flowing into 2009, the band played to hundreds of thousands of people across the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Their most recent records The Destruction of Small Ideas and We Were Exploding Anyway have seen the band shift into an electronic-based sound that has seen them compared to peers such as Battles and Aphex Twin. Straddling both rock and electronica, the band has created a hybrid sound that is truly unique.

It’s the band’s live show however, that has made them one of the most popular instrumental touring acts in the world. Where their records show their ornate instrumentation and experimental sound manipulations, their live show is a rock and roll rave that has seen them share stages with the likes of Metallica and play huge festivals such as Sonisphere and Summersonic, as well as massive European dance parties.

The tour and releases will be followed by the band’s newest studio album, due in mid-2013. “Catch 65DOS live and you will see that every member puts as much perspiration into his playing as a road-worker into his shovel on a hot day.” – Rogue Mag
